- Quote – “…the essence of gospel-humility is not thinking more of myself or thinking less of myself, it is thinking of myself less.” – Timothy Keller, The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness
- First 5 Bible Study App brought about Erin’s realization of pride. In studying the book of Obadiah on the First 5 App, Erin shared this comment in the app (and saved it in her journal, mentioned it in the episode and is now sharing it here!):
This lesson was great for me because it opened my eyes to see that I’ve had a lifelong misunderstanding of the word pride. I’ve always thought of it as over-confident in yourself/a big ego/boastful. I’m picturing Gaston from Beauty & the Beast. Because of this picture I could not identify pride in myself. I have a core issue of unworthiness/insecurity and I never think I’m enough, but it causes me to think about myself all the time. A self-focus (AKA selfish) rather than others-focus is really at the root of pride. I’m so grateful for this lesson and the realization it’s caused! A Family Feud Fueled by Pride
